| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Collin Meacham Sewell of Odessa has earned the 2009 |

| 6 | 6 | | George E. "Buddy" West Leadership Award; and |

| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Presented by the Presidential Museum and Leadership |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Library, the honor is given annually to individuals who demonstrate |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | leadership comparable to the great presidents of this nation; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, An active and respected member of his community, Mr. |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Sewell has shared his time with a number of worthwhile |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | organizations; he has served as a member of The University of Texas |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | of the Permian Basin development board, president and founding |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | member of the Education Foundation for Ector County ISD, and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | president of Texas Christian University's Regional Council; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, This notable Texan has also directed Zurich |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Insurance National Council, Ford National Credit Council, and Giant |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Impact, a leadership development group in Atlanta, Georgia; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Currently, Mr. Sewell is working to establish an |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | endowment that will provide tuition to every graduating senior of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Odessa public schools; his exceptional efforts earned him the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Community Statesman Award for Philanthropy in 2008; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A fourth-generation car dealer, he is president of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | the Sewell Family of Dealerships, which includes Sewell Ford, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Chevrolet, and Chrysler Dodge Jeep, and he was recently presented |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | with the Outstanding Award for Customer Service in the State of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Texas from Ford Motor Company; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Collin Sewell's civic endeavors have enhanced the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | quality of life for many residents of Odessa, and it is a pleasure |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | to honor him for his numerous contributions to the greater good; |

| 31 | 31 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Collin Meacham Sewell on his |
