| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The year 2009 marks the 25th anniversary of the |

| 6 | 6 | | South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1984 with the assistance of the South |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Belt Community Improvement Committee, this member-funded |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | organization has helped shepherd the region's growth and assisted |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | local citizens in benefiting from new opportunities; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, In the decades that followed the chamber's creation, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the group's forward-thinking members have welcomed the arrival of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | new industries and continued to build beneficial links between |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | local entrepreneurs; moreover, it has been instrumental in such |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | community improvement projects as the widening of the Fuqua and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Scarsdale overpasses, beautification efforts, and the addition of a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | new post office; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce has |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | also sponsored a number of memorable events, including the annual |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Night of Cuisine and Evening of Cuisine, an Independence Day |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | celebration, a local beauty pageant, the South Belt Spectacular |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Cookoff, and Casino Night; in addition, the group is an active |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | supporter of education, hosting school career days and offering |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | scholarships to area students; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Led by president Marie Flickinger, the South |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce is steadfast in its mission, and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | its members may take great pride in the group's history and many |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the South Belt-Ellington Chamber |

| 31 | 31 | | of Commerce on its 25th anniversary and extend to the chamber and |

| 32 | 32 | | its members sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
