44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Charles Maricle and Kim Kankel were named King and
66 Queen of the Pasadena Philharmonic Mardi Gras Ball on February 14,
77 2009; and
88 WHEREAS, The major fund-raiser for the Pasadena Philharmonic
99 Society Orchestra, the annual Mardi Gras Ball helps this local
1010 treasure to produce five concerts each year, under the direction of
1111 Frank "Bud" Woodruff; the event features a social hour, raffle,
1212 dinner, and dance contest, and culminates with the crowning of a
1313 king and queen; and
1414 WHEREAS, The 2009 Mardi Gras Ball king, Charles Maricle, is
1515 currently serving his country as a member of the Coast Guard, but
1616 his stepfather, Joseph Anzalone, and son, Charles Maricle, Jr.,
1717 were on hand to accept his crown; the 2009 Mardi Gras Ball queen,
1818 Kim Kankel, looks forward to fulfilling her duties at community
1919 events throughout the year; and
2020 WHEREAS, This outstanding Pasadena tradition provided fun
2121 and excitement for all those in attendance while raising money for a
2222 worthwhile cause, and it is a pleasure to recognize the
2323 Philharmonic and its new royalty; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2525 Legislature hereby congratulate the Pasadena Philharmonic on a
2626 successful 2009 fund-raiser and honor Charles Maricle and Kim
2727 Kankel on earning the titles of King and Queen of the Mardi Gras
2828 Ball; and, be it further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for Mr. Maricle and Ms. Kankel as an expression of high
3131 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
