| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The decisive actions of Officer Dru Greer of the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Pasadena Police Department helped save several people from a |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | burning building in north Houston on February 19, 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, In the early morning hours, Officer Greer was |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | transporting a juvenile in his patrol car when he noticed flames |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | coming from a complex of small residences; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Officer Greer immediately stopped his car and called |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the Houston Fire Department; he then began knocking on doors and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | assisting the building's occupants to safety; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, When the resident of one unit refused to believe |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Officer Greer and told him to go away, the officer kicked in the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | door and escorted the man from the building, saving his life; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | everyone Officer Greer assisted made it to safety, and no one was |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | hurt; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Dru Greer started with the Pasadena department as a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | dispatcher in 2004; although he has been a sworn officer for little |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | more than a year, his bravery and decisiveness in a dangerous |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | situation demonstrate that he has found his true calling in the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | field of law enforcement; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby commend Officer Dru Greer of the Pasadena Police |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Department for his courageous actions and extend to him sincere |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
