5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Aviation Support Equipment Technician First Class |

6 | 6 | | Jay Ramsey Brown is retiring from the U.S. Navy on May 15, 2009, |
---|
7 | 7 | | drawing to a close a distinguished career in service to this nation |
---|
8 | 8 | | that has spanned more than 20 years; and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A native of El Paso, Jay Brown graduated from |
---|
10 | 10 | | Eastwood High School in 1986 and joined the navy three years later; |
---|
11 | 11 | | following boot camp in San Diego, California, he attended aviation |
---|
12 | 12 | | support equipment technician school and received training in air |
---|
13 | 13 | | conditioning maintenance; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, From 1990 to 1992, AS First Class Brown served with |
---|
15 | 15 | | the Naval Air Station (NAS) Keflavik, Iceland, Aircraft |
---|
16 | 16 | | Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD); after his first |
---|
17 | 17 | | enlistment, he reported to NAS Jacksonville, Florida, AIMD, and |
---|
18 | 18 | | completed schools in turbine engine, technical electric, and |
---|
19 | 19 | | hydraulic maintenance; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, AS First Class Brown was later stationed at Point |
---|
21 | 21 | | Mugu, California, and worked on an outlying landing field on San |
---|
22 | 22 | | Nicolas Island; in 1998, he transferred to NAS Brunswick, Maine, |
---|
23 | 23 | | AIMD, where he completed level two cryogenic school and became a |
---|
24 | 24 | | quality assurance specialist; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, He reenlisted for the third time in 2001 and joined |
---|
26 | 26 | | the Bureau of Naval Personnel Sea Duty Component in Dallas; |
---|
27 | 27 | | returning to Brunswick for his most recent assignment, he served as |
---|
28 | 28 | | a division leading petty officer with top secret security |
---|
29 | 29 | | clearance; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, During the course of his tenure, this patriotic |
---|
31 | 31 | | Texan has garnered numerous commendations, including five Navy and |
---|
32 | 32 | | Marine Corps Achievement Medals, two National Defense Service |
---|
33 | 33 | | Medals, six Good Conduct Medals, and the Global War on Terrorism |
---|
34 | 34 | | Medal; he has also served his peers as president of the AIMD First |
---|
35 | 35 | | Class Association; and |
---|
36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, AS First Class Brown has been supported in all of his |
---|
37 | 37 | | endeavors by a loving family that includes his wife, Susan, and his |
---|
38 | 38 | | daughters, Ashley Nicole and Laura Louise; and |
---|
39 | 39 | | WHEREAS, For two decades, Jay Brown has exemplified the |
---|
40 | 40 | | highest standards of the United States Navy, and his outstanding |
---|
41 | 41 | | efforts in this country's behalf are indeed deserving of his fellow |
---|
42 | 42 | | citizens' deepest gratitude; now, therefore, be it |
---|
43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
44 | 44 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Aviation Support Equipment |
---|
45 | 45 | | Technician First Class Jay Ramsey Brown on his retirement from the |
---|
46 | 46 | | U.S. Navy and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
---|
47 | 47 | | happiness as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; |
