55 WHEREAS, Aviation Support Equipment Technician First Class
66 Jay Ramsey Brown is retiring from the U.S. Navy on May 15, 2009,
77 drawing to a close a distinguished career in service to this nation
88 that has spanned more than 20 years; and
99 WHEREAS, A native of El Paso, Jay Brown graduated from
1010 Eastwood High School in 1986 and joined the navy three years later;
1111 following boot camp in San Diego, California, he attended aviation
1212 support equipment technician school and received training in air
1313 conditioning maintenance; and
1414 WHEREAS, From 1990 to 1992, AS First Class Brown served with
1515 the Naval Air Station (NAS) Keflavik, Iceland, Aircraft
1616 Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD); after his first
1717 enlistment, he reported to NAS Jacksonville, Florida, AIMD, and
1818 completed schools in turbine engine, technical electric, and
1919 hydraulic maintenance; and
2020 WHEREAS, AS First Class Brown was later stationed at Point
2121 Mugu, California, and worked on an outlying landing field on San
2222 Nicolas Island; in 1998, he transferred to NAS Brunswick, Maine,
2323 AIMD, where he completed level two cryogenic school and became a
2424 quality assurance specialist; and
2525 WHEREAS, He reenlisted for the third time in 2001 and joined
2626 the Bureau of Naval Personnel Sea Duty Component in Dallas;
2727 returning to Brunswick for his most recent assignment, he served as
2828 a division leading petty officer with top secret security
2929 clearance; and
3030 WHEREAS, During the course of his tenure, this patriotic
3131 Texan has garnered numerous commendations, including five Navy and
3232 Marine Corps Achievement Medals, two National Defense Service
3333 Medals, six Good Conduct Medals, and the Global War on Terrorism
3434 Medal; he has also served his peers as president of the AIMD First
3535 Class Association; and
3636 WHEREAS, AS First Class Brown has been supported in all of his
3737 endeavors by a loving family that includes his wife, Susan, and his
3838 daughters, Ashley Nicole and Laura Louise; and
3939 WHEREAS, For two decades, Jay Brown has exemplified the
4040 highest standards of the United States Navy, and his outstanding
4141 efforts in this country's behalf are indeed deserving of his fellow
4242 citizens' deepest gratitude; now, therefore, be it
4343 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
4444 Legislature hereby congratulate Aviation Support Equipment
4545 Technician First Class Jay Ramsey Brown on his retirement from the
4646 U.S. Navy and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
4747 happiness as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life;
4848 and, be it further
4949 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5050 prepared for AS First Class Brown as an expression of high regard by
5151 the Texas House of Representatives.
