44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Richard
66 M. Hull of Dallas, who passed away on February 20, 2009, at the age
77 of 69; and
88 WHEREAS, A Dallas native, Dick Hull was born on February 8,
99 1940, in the Oak Cliff neighborhood; he excelled in baseball at
1010 Jesuit College Preparatory School and earned both his undergraduate
1111 and law degrees at Southern Methodist University, where he served
1212 as editor of the Southwestern Bar Journal and lettered in baseball;
1313 and
1414 WHEREAS, Mr. Hull's exceptional score on the Texas state bar
1515 exam brought an invitation to join the Wall Street law firm of Dewey
1616 Ballantine in 1964; his tenure there was interrupted with U.S. Army
1717 service in Alaska; returning to his hometown, he joined the law firm
1818 of Wynne, Jaffe and Tinsley and in 1977 cofounded Crutcher, Hull,
1919 Ramsey and Jordan; a longtime corporate and securities attorney, he
2020 counted among his clients the first Texas Rangers baseball players
2121 and Lady Bird Johnson; late in his career, he established Hull and
2222 Associates, where he worked with entrepreneurs as well as
2323 businesses that needed help; moreover, Mr. Hull was known for
2424 encouraging many of the city's top lawyers to perform pro bono work
2525 for the poor; and
2626 WHEREAS, For his work as a founder of the Dallas Bar
2727 Association's Volunteer Attorney Program, which has been
2828 designated the top such program in the nation by the American Bar
2929 Association, Mr. Hull was named a 2004 distinguished alumnus by
3030 SMU's Dedman School of Law; he was named Distinguished Alumnus of
3131 the Year in 2006 by Jesuit College Preparatory School for his
3232 extensive volunteerism as chair of the board of trustees, as
3333 president of the president's board of advisors, and as a member of
3434 the Jesuit Foundation; and
3535 WHEREAS, This esteemed attorney leaves behind an
3636 immeasurable legacy of service to his community, and he will be
3737 greatly missed by those individuals who were fortunate enough to
3838 share in the richness of his life; now, therefore, be it
3939 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
4040 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Richard M. Hull and
4141 extend deepest condolences to the members of his family: to his
4242 wife, Susan Hull; to his children, Rich Hull, Tracey Antrim and her
4343 husband, Eric, and Blakely Hull; to his sister, Anna Lemaster; to
4444 his brother, Eddie Hull; and to his other relatives and friends;
4545 and, be it further
4646 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4747 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4848 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Richard
4949 Hull.
