| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Peter Rodriguez has received the 2008 |

| 6 | 6 | | Distinguished Alumni Award from the Kilgore College Ex-Student |

| 7 | 7 | | Association; and |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The first recipient of this prestigious new award, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Peter Rodriguez attended Kilgore College and then received his |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University; he went on to earn his |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | master's degree and doctorate in economics from Princeton |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | University; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Rodriguez has served as a lecturer at Princeton |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and as a professor at Texas A&M; he is currently an associate dean |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | for international affairs and a professor at the Darden School of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Business at the University of Virginia; he has also worked for the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Global Energy Group at J.P. Morgan Chase; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Widely recognized for his important work on |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | international trade, economic development, and globalization, this |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | outstanding scholar has been a Ford-Rockefeller Academic Fellow, a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Fellow of the British-American Project of Johns Hopkins School of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Advanced International Studies, and an Excellence in Diversity |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Fellow at the University of Virginia; he has also received numerous |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | awards for teaching excellence; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his impressive career, Dr. Rodriguez has |

| 26 | 26 | | demonstrated the qualities of intellectual rigor and commitment to |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | excellence that indeed make him worthy of recognition as a |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | distinguished alumni of Kilgore College; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Peter Rodriguez for receiving |
