| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jerheme Urban of Victoria was a member of the |

| 6 | 6 | | Arizona Cardinals football team that captured the 2009 National |

| 7 | 7 | | Football Conference championship, and he and his teammates treated |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the nation to an exciting game during Super Bowl XLIII on February |

| 9 | 9 | | 1, 2009; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Raised in Victoria, Jerheme Urban has played |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | football most of his life, beginning on flag football teams and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | continuing with the squads at Crain Middle School and Stroman High |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | School, where he played quarterback; a broken hand incurred during |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | his first season at Trinity University converted him from passer to |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | receiver, and he went on to set several university records for his |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | exceptional achievements on the field; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Urban's NFL career began with the Seattle |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Seahawks in 2003, and he played with the team for three seasons |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | before being sidelined by a foot injury; he was a member of the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Dallas Cowboys practice squad for a year before being picked up by |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the Arizona Cardinals early in the 2007 season and establishing |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | himself as a valuable member of the team's receiver corps; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Making his first Super Bowl appearance in the 2009 |

| 24 | 24 | | championship game, this talented Texan contributed to his team in |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | numerous ways, including his crucial 18-yard first-down reception |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | in an important fourth-quarter Arizona scoring drive; and |

| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Off the field, Mr. Urban devotes himself to helping |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | others by organizing reading competitions at Nursery Elementary in |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Victoria and working as an assistant coach for the Trinity |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | University track team; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Winning an NFC championship and competing against |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | the best in the game at the Super Bowl are dreams that are realized |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | through countless hours of hard work and a steadfast commitment to |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | excellence, and Jerheme Urban is a source of tremendous pride to the |

| 35 | 35 | | residents of his hometown for achieving these worthy goals; now, |

| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
