No. 870 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Donna Jean Evans of Fort Worth, who died on January 30, 2009, at the age of 55; and WHEREAS, Donna Jean Evans was born in Fort Worth on March 20, 1953, to L. D. and Emma Jean Evans; she attended Fort Worth schools and Tarrant County Junior College; and WHEREAS, Ms. Evans graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor's degree in sociology and political science, and she pursued graduate studies in urban affairs and public administration; and WHEREAS, This talented professional went on to a rich and productive career in county and state government; in Tarrant County, she worked as an urban planner, as a staff assistant for the commissioners court, and as a coordinator for the Mayor's Council; she also served as the administrator and chief of staff for former Texas state representative Glenn Lewis of House District 95 in Fort Worth; and WHEREAS, In spite of her busy professional responsibilities, Ms. Evans found time to give back to her community as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; she also focused her energy and expertise on many worthwhile community projects; a woman of strong faith, she was a lifetime member of Baker Chapel A.M.E. Church; and WHEREAS, Donna Jean Evans lived a full and generous life, one devoted to her community, her faith, and public service, and she will be forever remembered with great affection and admiration by all who held her dear; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Donna Jean Evans and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her sisters, Emma E. Brown and her husband, Paul, Thelma Foreman, and Cheree M. Evans; to her brothers, Lawrence D. Evans and Allen C. Evans and his wife, Estella; to her nieces, Annette Foreman and Tijuana Smith; to her nephews, Kevin Foreman and Carlos Campbell; to her extended family, Gloria Griggs, Doris Vaughn, Marilyn Dogan, Marsha Knox, Jackie Lewis, Joree Williams, and Lapaula Goss; to her special cousin, Viola Bradley; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Donna Jean Evans.
