| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Donna |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Jean Evans of Fort Worth, who died on January 30, 2009, at the age of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 55; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Donna Jean Evans was born in Fort Worth on March 20, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 1953, to L. D. and Emma Jean Evans; she attended Fort Worth schools |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and Tarrant County Junior College; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Evans graduated from the University of Houston |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | with a bachelor's degree in sociology and political science, and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | she pursued graduate studies in urban affairs and public |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | administration; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, This talented professional went on to a rich and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | productive career in county and state government; in Tarrant |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | County, she worked as an urban planner, as a staff assistant for the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | commissioners court, and as a coordinator for the Mayor's Council; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | she also served as the administrator and chief of staff for former |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Texas state representative Glenn Lewis of House District 95 in Fort |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Worth; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, In spite of her busy professional responsibilities, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Ms. Evans found time to give back to her community as a member of the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Order of the Eastern Star and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; she also |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | focused her energy and expertise on many worthwhile community |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | projects; a woman of strong faith, she was a lifetime member of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Baker Chapel A.M.E. Church; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Donna Jean Evans lived a full and generous life, one |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | devoted to her community, her faith, and public service, and she |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | will be forever remembered with great affection and admiration by |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | all who held her dear; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Donna Jean Evans and |

| 34 | 34 | | extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her |

| 35 | 35 | | sisters, Emma E. Brown and her husband, Paul, Thelma Foreman, and |

| 36 | 36 | | Cheree M. Evans; to her brothers, Lawrence D. Evans and Allen C. |

| 37 | 37 | | Evans and his wife, Estella; to her nieces, Annette Foreman and |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | Tijuana Smith; to her nephews, Kevin Foreman and Carlos Campbell; |

| 39 | 39 | | to her extended family, Gloria Griggs, Doris Vaughn, Marilyn Dogan, |

| 40 | 40 | | Marsha Knox, Jackie Lewis, Joree Williams, and Lapaula Goss; to her |
