| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Mayor Cedric Cirasa of Villefranche-sur-Mer, |

| 6 | 6 | | France, is experiencing the culture, heritage, and institutions of |

| 7 | 7 | | the Lone Star State firsthand as he visits the State Capitol in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Austin on March 25, 2009; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Cirasa previously served as deputy mayor of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Nice; with his recent promotion to deputy mayor of |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Villefranche-sur-Mer, he also takes on the role of minister of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | tourism and culture; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Villefranche-sur-Mer is set along the beautiful |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | coastal region of the Mediterranean known as the Cote d'Azur, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | between the city of Nice and the principality of Monaco; it has a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | long and colorful history that began even before the Roman Empire, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and today the city's cobbled streets and red-tiled roofs still have |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | a charmingly medieval atmosphere; now a popular resort welcoming |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | more than a million tourists a year, the city is known for its close |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | ties to the United States; the U.S. Navy has a long association with |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the city, and Mr. Cirasa was in charge of a recent commemoration of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | World War II and of the U.S. Navy's role in that conflict; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, By visiting the State Capitol, Mr. Cirasa is helping |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | to build stronger ties of friendship and mutual respect between the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | citizens of his lovely city and the proud residents of the Lone Star |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | State, and it is most fitting that he should be extended the status |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | of honorary Texan; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby recognize Cedric Cirasa as an honorary Texan |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | with all the perquisites and privileges accorded to those |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | individuals native to this great state and extend to him sincere |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | best wishes for a meaningful and memorable visit to Austin; and, be |
