44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives joins the
66 citizens of Kaufman County in the celebration of Kaufman County Day
77 at the State Capitol on March 23, 2009; and
88 WHEREAS, King's Fort was established by William P. King and
99 40 pioneers in 1840; Kaufman County was created in 1848, and three
1010 years later King's Fort was selected as its county seat and renamed
1111 Kaufman, in honor of David Spangler Kaufman, a member of the Texas
1212 Legislature and the United States Congress; and
1313 WHEREAS, Kaufman County is one of the fastest-growing
1414 counties in the state and has several of the top rated public school
1515 districts in North Texas; and
1616 WHEREAS, Kaufman County is home to three higher education
1717 facilities, Southwestern Christian College, Trinity Valley
1818 Community College, and Trinity Valley Nursing College, as well as
1919 historical and cultural attractions such as the British Flying
2020 Training School Museum, the Kaufman County Poor Farm, and the
2121 Terrell Heritage Museum; and
2222 WHEREAS, Kaufman County has long been an outstanding place in
2323 which to establish a business, live, work, and raise a family; it is
2424 indeed a privilege to pay tribute to this county and its citizens at
2525 this time; now, therefore, be it
2626 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2727 Legislature hereby recognize March 23, 2009, as Kaufman County Day
2828 at the State Capitol and extend to the visiting delegation best
2929 wishes for an enjoyable and informative stay in Austin.
