| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives joins the |

| 6 | 6 | | citizens of Kaufman County in the celebration of Kaufman County Day |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | at the State Capitol on March 23, 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, King's Fort was established by William P. King and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 40 pioneers in 1840; Kaufman County was created in 1848, and three |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | years later King's Fort was selected as its county seat and renamed |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Kaufman, in honor of David Spangler Kaufman, a member of the Texas |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Legislature and the United States Congress; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Kaufman County is one of the fastest-growing |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | counties in the state and has several of the top rated public school |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | districts in North Texas; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Kaufman County is home to three higher education |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | facilities, Southwestern Christian College, Trinity Valley |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Community College, and Trinity Valley Nursing College, as well as |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | historical and cultural attractions such as the British Flying |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Training School Museum, the Kaufman County Poor Farm, and the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Terrell Heritage Museum; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Kaufman County has long been an outstanding place in |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | which to establish a business, live, work, and raise a family; it is |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | indeed a privilege to pay tribute to this county and its citizens at |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | this time; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby recognize March 23, 2009, as Kaufman County Day |

| 28 | 28 | | at the State Capitol and extend to the visiting delegation best |

| 29 | 29 | | wishes for an enjoyable and informative stay in Austin. |
