| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Midland Memorial Hospital has won two awards from |

| 6 | 6 | | the American Heart Association in 2009 as a participant in its Get |

| 7 | 7 | | with the Guidelines program; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Established in 2000, the AHA's Get with the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Guidelines initiative is a quality improvement program that seeks |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | to ensure that hospital treatment of coronary artery disease, heart |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | failure, and stroke is aligned with the most current scientific |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | guidelines and evidence-based procedures and therapies; Midland |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Memorial became the first area hospital to join the GWTG--Coronary |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Artery Disease program in 2004; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, For the second consecutive year, the hospital |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | received a gold award from the AHA in recognition of its long-term |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | efforts to combat coronary artery disease; the hospital also |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | received a silver award acknowledging more than 12 consecutive |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | months of adherence to performance measures for preventing heart |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | failure; and |

| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, For over 50 years, Midland Memorial has provided |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | quality patient care, and the AHA awards exemplify this fine |

| 23 | 23 | | institution's outstanding commitment to excellence; now, |

| 24 | 24 | | therefore, be it |

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 26 | 26 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the staff of Midland Memorial |
