| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Monsignor Larry Droll, the Reverend James Bridges, |

| 6 | 6 | | and the Reverend James Plagens were conferred papal honors on |

| 7 | 7 | | February 6, 2009, at the Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart in San |

| 8 | 8 | | Angelo; and |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The pastor of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Midland |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and the vicar general of the diocese of San Angelo, Monsignor Droll |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | received the ceremonial title protonotary apostolic supernumerary; |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Reverend Plagens, a senior priest at St. Ann's, and Reverend |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Bridges, the pastor of St. Stephen Parish in Midland, were named |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | monsignors, or chaplains to His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI; these |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | appointments were made by the pope, at the recommendation of The |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Most Reverend Michael D. Pfeifer, the bishop of the San Angelo |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | diocese; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In the Roman Catholic tradition, monsignor is a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | title of distinction given to certain priests for their service to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the church, and these esteemed clergymen, who have each served in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the priesthood for more than 30 years, were duly recognized by |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Bishop Pfeifer for their strong faith and their commitment to the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Diocese of San Angelo; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Monsignors Larry Droll, James Bridges, and James |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Plagens have exemplified the highest standards of their vocation, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and in so doing, they have garnered the lasting respect and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | admiration of their colleagues and parishioners, as well as members |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | of the greater community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby honor Monsignors Larry Droll, James Bridges, and |

| 31 | 31 | | James Plagens for their dedicated service and extend to them |

| 32 | 32 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
