| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, William Patrick McDonough of Boy Scouts of America |

| 6 | 6 | | Troop No. 814 in San Antonio has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, |

| 7 | 7 | | and this accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | honor, bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | criteria, Mr. McDonough earned the requisite 21 merit badges, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | including those requiring expertise in such diverse areas as |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | forestry, horsemanship, and archaeology, and successfully |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | completed an Eagle Scout project involving the construction of a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | footbridge at the Lost Maples State Natural Area; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The son of Joe and Lori McDonough, this fine young |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability throughout |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | his scouting career, winning the respect and admiration of his |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | fellow scouts as he worked toward the highest rank that scouting |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | offers; he has served as den chief and troop guide, and he is a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | recipient of the Arrow of Light Award; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Eagle Scout McDonough's dedication to excellence |

| 23 | 23 | | and his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | worthy to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect |

| 25 | 25 | | with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate William Patrick McDonough on |

| 28 | 28 | | achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best |
