| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The year 2009 marks the 26th anniversary of the |

| 6 | 6 | | founding of Camp Wisdom United Methodist Church of Dallas, and on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | March 29, the congregation is commemorating this significant event |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | in the history of the church; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, This congregation supports several ministries with |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | diverse purposes; the Magnification Ministry enhances the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | spiritual experience of the church through musicians, singers, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | dancers, and others while the Membership Ministry focuses on |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | fellowship, including services such as bereavement counseling and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | weddings; the Mission Ministry seeks effective evangelical |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | communication of and modern accessibility to the gospels, and the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Maturity Ministry helps foster spiritual development in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | congregants by guiding their faith through all stages of life; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Under the inspired leadership of senior pastor Dr. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Janet Bell Odom, the members of Camp Wisdom UMC also focus on giving |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | back to the community through external programs such as Clothes |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Closet, Food Pantry, Prison Ministry, and other outreach efforts; |

| 22 | 22 | | and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Since its founding, Camp Wisdom United Methodist |

| 24 | 24 | | Church has remained a source of strength, comfort, and inspiration |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | to area residents, and it is fitting that its clergy and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | congregants, both past and present, be honored on this occasion; |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby honor Camp Wisdom United Methodist Church on the |
