66 WHEREAS, The National Association of Town Watch (NATW)
77 sponsors a nationwide crime, drug, and violence prevention program
88 entitled National Night Out Against Crime; and
99 WHEREAS, The annual National Night Out event provides an
1010 opportunity for Texans to join forces with thousands of other
1111 communities across the country in promoting cooperative,
1212 police-community crime prevention efforts; and
1313 WHEREAS, Residents of the Lone Star State play a vital role in
1414 assisting their local law enforcement agencies in meeting the goals
1515 of this important initiative by demonstrating responsible
1616 citizenship, a respect for law, and a commitment to crime-free
1717 neighborhoods; and
1818 WHEREAS, The importance of reducing crime, drug use, and
1919 violence cannot be overstated, and by taking part in National Night
2020 Out observances, Texans affirm their commitment to making their
2121 communities stronger and safer; now, therefore, be it
2222 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2323 Legislature hereby recognize National Night Out Against Crime as an
2424 essential crime prevention program in the State of Texas and
2525 commend all those involved in this vital endeavor.
