| 7 | 7 | | sponsors a nationwide crime, drug, and violence prevention program |

| 8 | 8 | | entitled National Night Out Against Crime; and |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The annual National Night Out event provides an |

| 10 | 10 | | opportunity for Texans to join forces with thousands of other |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | communities across the country in promoting cooperative, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | police-community crime prevention efforts; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Residents of the Lone Star State play a vital role in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | assisting their local law enforcement agencies in meeting the goals |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | of this important initiative by demonstrating responsible |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | citizenship, a respect for law, and a commitment to crime-free |

| 17 | 17 | | neighborhoods; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The importance of reducing crime, drug use, and |

| 19 | 19 | | violence cannot be overstated, and by taking part in National Night |

| 20 | 20 | | Out observances, Texans affirm their commitment to making their |

| 21 | 21 | | communities stronger and safer; now, therefore, be it |

| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 23 | 23 | | Legislature hereby recognize National Night Out Against Crime as an |

| 24 | 24 | | essential crime prevention program in the State of Texas and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | commend all those involved in this vital endeavor. |
