| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Through its use of the Lean Six Sigma program, the |

| 7 | 7 | | enhanced and more efficient services to citizens, visitors, and |

| 8 | 8 | | businesses; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A high-powered initiative developed in the private |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | sector, Lean Six Sigma is a business improvement methodology that |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | aims to increase the quality and speed of services and to improve |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | overall customer satisfaction; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Irving was the first municipality in Texas and the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | second in the country to holistically use Lean Six Sigma as a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | citywide program, and this endeavor is well matched to the city's |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | corporate business structure; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The application of the program has resulted in a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | variety of specific achievements that encompass police |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | recruitment, water maintenance and repair, construction plan |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | review, and much more; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Because Lean Six Sigma enables employees to do their |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | jobs more efficiently, it is contributing to their enthusiasm and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | job satisfaction; moreover, this innovative approach to process |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | improvement is increasing the overall effectiveness of city |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | government and is helping to make Irving an even better place to |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | live and work; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby commend the City of Irving for its |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | implementation of the Lean Six Sigma program and extend sincere |

| 30 | 30 | | best wishes for continued success to all those associated with the |
