55 WHEREAS, Friends and family mourn the loss of William C.
66 Barmore of Pasadena, who died on August 23, 2008, at the age of 81;
77 and
88 WHEREAS, Bill Barmore was born in Cameron on January 6, 1927,
99 to Cecil and Selma Klatt Barmore; he graduated from Hearne High
1010 School as valedictorian of the Class of 1944; and
1111 WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Barmore
1212 enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II; following
1313 his discharge, he attended The University of Texas and earned his
1414 degree in 1949; and
1515 WHEREAS, Mr. Barmore married Muriel Adele Floyd the following
1616 year, and the couple were blessed with nearly six decades together;
1717 and
1818 WHEREAS, Mr. Barmore began working in the insurance business
1919 in 1952, and his wife typed the policies at night that he had sold
2020 during the day; over the years, he built a successful and
2121 well-regarded business, the Barmore Insurance Agency, which
2222 continues to thrive under the management of his sons, Mike and Bill;
2323 and
2424 WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Mr. Barmore was a leader in
2525 his profession, serving on the board of the Independent Insurance
2626 Agents of Houston and on many other industry boards and councils;
2727 and
2828 WHEREAS, He was involved in civic organizations as well,
2929 serving as president of the Pasadena Jaycees and the Marble Falls
3030 Rotary Club, and he was proud of his 40-year record of perfect
3131 attendance as a Rotary Club member; moreover, Mr. Barmore was a
3232 Mason for 57 years, a Shriner for more than five decades, and a Pee
3333 Wee and Little League baseball coach; and
3434 WHEREAS, A man of strong religious faith, he was an active
3535 parishioner of the First United Methodist Church of Pasadena for
3636 more than half a century, teaching youth and adult Sunday school
3737 classes and serving on the administrative board; and
3838 WHEREAS, Bill Barmore lived a full and generous life, and he
3939 leaves behind a legacy to treasure for all those who held him dear;
4040 now, therefore, be it
4141 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
4242 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of William C. Barmore and
4343 extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife
4444 of 58 years, Muriel Barmore; to his sons, Mike Barmore and his wife,
4545 Anna, Bill Barmore and his wife, Jackie, and Jim Barmore and his
4646 wife, Peggy; to his brother, Robert Barmore; to his 10
4747 grandchildren and his great-grandchild; and to his other relatives
4848 and friends; and, be it further
4949 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5050 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
5151 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bill
5252 Barmore.
