| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Peter C. Francis has received the 2009 Community |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Service Award from the Andrews Chamber of Commerce; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, A resident of Andrews for more than three decades, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Pete Francis worked as an agent at Germania Insurance and later |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | operated J J's Jewelry; he is currently the proprietor of his own |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | local insurance company, but despite his busy professional life, he |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | regularly volunteers his time to numerous community organizations, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | including the Andrews Chamber of Commerce, the Andrews Industrial |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Foundation, and the Lions Club; a member of the school board for 12 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | years, Mr. Francis is now the president of the Andrews Independent |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | School District Education Foundation, through which he helps raise |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | funds for innovative teaching, staff development, and curriculum |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | enhancement grants; a former Oklahoma State University football |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | player, he supports Andrews ISD athletics, as well, and he often |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | provides commentary for the high school football games on KACT |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | radio; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Francis also serves as a deacon at Andrews |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Church of Christ, and in all of his endeavors, he enjoys the love |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and support of his wife, Linda, and the couple's two children, Jeff |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and Jennifer; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, A generous and dedicated citizen, Pete Francis has |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | earned the lasting respect and admiration of all who know him, and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | he may indeed reflect with great pride on his notable civic |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | contributions; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Peter C. Francis on his receipt of |

| 31 | 31 | | the 2009 Community Service Award from the Andrews Chamber of |

| 32 | 32 | | Commerce and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
