5	5	WHEREAS, First Lieutenant Clinton L. Eubanks is rendering
6	6	outstanding service to this country as a member of the United States
7	7	Marine Corps; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, on August 8, 1979,
9	9	Lieutenant Eubanks has called Houston home since 1983; he graduated
10	10	in 1998 from Westfield High School, where he was a National Merit
11	11	Scholar and a member of the band, and in 2002 he received a degree in
12	12	chemical engineering from Texas A&M University; for the next three
13	13	years, he worked as a research and development project manager with
14	14	Frito-Lay, and he is credited with a patent for an invention he
15	15	developed during that period; and
16	16	WHEREAS, After joining the marines in 2006, Lieutenant
17	17	Eubanks attended Officer Candidate School and then completed the
18	18	marine officers' Basic School and Infantry Course; in the fall of
19	19	2007, he was assigned to Bravo Company of the 1st Battalion, 3rd
20	20	Marine Regiment, which is based in Hawaii; and
21	21	WHEREAS, Deployed to Iraq in August 2008, Lieutenant Eubanks
22	22	served as a platoon commander northwest of Baghdad, in Al Anbar
23	23	Province; over the course of that deployment, he and his unit
24	24	conducted operations with and mentored different elements of the
25	25	Iraqi security forces; he also devoted a significant portion of his
26	26	time to a variety of critical infrastructure projects, such as the
27	27	renovation of schools and water purification plants and the
28	28	construction of a new medical facility; and
29	29	WHEREAS, Lieutenant Eubanks and his battalion returned to the
30	30	States in March 2009 and are scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan this
31	31	coming fall; and
32	32	WHEREAS, A man of strong faith, Lieutenant Eubanks
33	33	participated in the High School Praise Band at Champion Forest
34	34	Baptist Church in Houston and the College Praise Band at Central
35	35	Baptist Church in Bryan; he is the son of BJ and Phil Eubanks and the
36	36	brother of Travis Eubanks, who take great pride in all his
37	37	accomplishments; and
38	38	WHEREAS, Through his bravery, professionalism, and devotion
39	39	to duty, Lieutenant Eubanks embodies the highest values of the
40	40	United States Marine Corps, and he is indeed deserving of his fellow
41	41	citizens' deep respect and appreciation; now, therefore, be it
42	42	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
43	43	Legislature hereby commend First Lieutenant Clinton L. Eubanks for
44	44	his exemplary service in this country's behalf and extend to him
45	45	sincere best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors;
46	46	and, be it further
47	47	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
48	48	prepared for Lieutenant Eubanks as an expression of high regard by
49	49	the Texas House of Representatives.
