 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Jeffery R. Brown was
 honored by the West Texas organization Show of Support for his
 valiant service in Iraq in November 2007; and
 WHEREAS, Founded in 2004 to express gratitude to members of
 the armed forces, Show of Support each year recognizes a group of
 military personnel who have been injured in the course of their
 service; following a reception, these individuals are invited to
 participate in an all-expenses paid white-tailed deer hunt; and
 WHEREAS, A member of the United States Marine Corps from 1996
 to 2000, Staff Sergeant Brown subsequently served as an officer
 with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C.; he
 went on to enlist in the United States Army and was assigned to C
 Company, 2/8th Infantry, 4th Infantry Division, stationed at Fort
 Hood; deployed to Iraq, he was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds he
 sustained during combat in the Diyala province in March 2004; and
 WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Brown was named NCO of the Year for
 the 2/8th Infantry and was inducted into the Sergeant Audie Murphy
 Club; since that time, he received orders to join the 82nd Airborne
 Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and
 WHEREAS, Throughout his career in the military, Staff
 Sergeant Brown has demonstrated exemplary dedication and
 professionalism, and his unfaltering devotion to duty, honor, and
 this nation reflects the highest ideals of the United States armed
 forces; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby honor U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Jeffery R. Brown
 for his steadfast valor and extend to him deepest appreciation for
 his heroic efforts in this country's behalf; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Staff Sergeant Brown as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas House of Representatives.
