55 WHEREAS, Nan Napier has long been an invaluable supporter of
66 the YWCA in El Paso; and
77 WHEREAS, Inspired by her mother, who was also an advocate of
88 the YWCA, Mrs. Napier first served the organization through the
99 YWCA Consumer Credit Counseling Service; her education in business
1010 and accounting was a tremendous asset, helping to ensure that the
1111 then new initiative would have a solid foundation to help families
1212 struggling to manage their finances; thanks in part to her efforts,
1313 the counseling service has helped thousands of families and
1414 returned as much as $9 million to $10 million annually to creditors;
1515 and
1616 WHEREAS, Mrs. Napier continues her contributions today as the
1717 owner of Tres Mariposas, a women's clothing boutique; she has made
1818 generous donations that have bolstered the spirits and confidence
1919 of many residents of the YWCA Sara McKnight Transitional Living
2020 Center, which provides essential services to homeless women and
2121 children; and
2222 WHEREAS, Embracing community service as a core business as
2323 well as personal philosophy, Mrs. Napier views commitment to her
2424 fellow residents as a cornerstone of her company, now in its 37th
2525 year; she assists more than 15 organizations and events annually,
2626 and she further gives to the YWCA by supporting its annual women's
2727 luncheon; and
2828 WHEREAS, The strength of our communities and the vitality of
2929 the State of Texas depend on the dedication of women like Nan
3030 Napier; she uses her considerable talents and charitable spirit to
3131 serve others, and it is a pleasure to join the YWCA in honoring her;
3232 now, therefore, be it
3333 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3434 Legislature hereby commend Nan Napier for her efforts in behalf of
3535 the YWCA in El Paso and extend to her sincere best wishes for
3636 continued success with her important work; and, be it further
3737 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3838 prepared for Mrs. Napier as an expression of high regard by the
3939 Texas House of Representatives.
