5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Nan Napier has long been an invaluable supporter of |

6 | 6 | | the YWCA in El Paso; and |

7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Inspired by her mother, who was also an advocate of |
---|
8 | 8 | | the YWCA, Mrs. Napier first served the organization through the |
---|
9 | 9 | | YWCA Consumer Credit Counseling Service; her education in business |
---|
10 | 10 | | and accounting was a tremendous asset, helping to ensure that the |
---|
11 | 11 | | then new initiative would have a solid foundation to help families |
---|
12 | 12 | | struggling to manage their finances; thanks in part to her efforts, |
---|
13 | 13 | | the counseling service has helped thousands of families and |
---|
14 | 14 | | returned as much as $9 million to $10 million annually to creditors; |
---|
15 | 15 | | and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Napier continues her contributions today as the |
---|
17 | 17 | | owner of Tres Mariposas, a women's clothing boutique; she has made |
---|
18 | 18 | | generous donations that have bolstered the spirits and confidence |
---|
19 | 19 | | of many residents of the YWCA Sara McKnight Transitional Living |
---|
20 | 20 | | Center, which provides essential services to homeless women and |
---|
21 | 21 | | children; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Embracing community service as a core business as |
---|
23 | 23 | | well as personal philosophy, Mrs. Napier views commitment to her |
---|
24 | 24 | | fellow residents as a cornerstone of her company, now in its 37th |
---|
25 | 25 | | year; she assists more than 15 organizations and events annually, |
---|
26 | 26 | | and she further gives to the YWCA by supporting its annual women's |
---|
27 | 27 | | luncheon; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, The strength of our communities and the vitality of |
---|
29 | 29 | | the State of Texas depend on the dedication of women like Nan |
---|
30 | 30 | | Napier; she uses her considerable talents and charitable spirit to |
---|
31 | 31 | | serve others, and it is a pleasure to join the YWCA in honoring her; |
---|
32 | 32 | | now, therefore, be it |

33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby commend Nan Napier for her efforts in behalf of |

35 | 35 | | the YWCA in El Paso and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
