9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 151.333(c), Tax Code, is amended to read | |
11 | 11 | as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (c) The sale of an energy-efficient product [to which this | |
13 | 13 | section applies] is exempted from the taxes imposed by this chapter | |
14 | 14 | if the sale takes place during a period beginning at 12:01 a.m. on | |
15 | 15 | the Saturday preceding the last Monday in May (Memorial Day) and | |
16 | 16 | ending at 11:59 p.m. on the last Monday in May. | |
17 | 17 | SECTION 2. Section 151.333(b), Tax Code, is repealed. | |
18 | 18 | SECTION 3. The change in law made by this Act does not | |
19 | 19 | affect tax liability accruing before the effective date of this | |
20 | 20 | Act. That liability continues in effect as if this Act had not been | |
21 | 21 | enacted, and the former law is continued in effect for the | |
22 | 22 | collection of taxes due and for civil and criminal enforcement of | |
23 | 23 | the liability for those taxes. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
