55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to exemptions from the sales tax for energy efficient
88 products for a limited period.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 151.333(c), Tax Code, is amended to read
1111 as follows:
1212 (c) The sale of an energy-efficient product [to which this
1313 section applies] is exempted from the taxes imposed by this chapter
1414 if the sale takes place during a period beginning at 12:01 a.m. on
1515 the Saturday preceding the last Monday in May (Memorial Day) and
1616 ending at 11:59 p.m. on the last Monday in May.
1717 SECTION 2. Section 151.333(b), Tax Code, is repealed.
1818 SECTION 3. The change in law made by this Act does not
1919 affect tax liability accruing before the effective date of this
2020 Act. That liability continues in effect as if this Act had not been
2121 enacted, and the former law is continued in effect for the
2222 collection of taxes due and for civil and criminal enforcement of
2323 the liability for those taxes.
2424 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
