| 14 | 14 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 15 | 15 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 130, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | amended by adding Section 130.0851 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Sec. 130.0851. TUITION EXEMPTION FOR DISTRICT EMPLOYEES. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | The governing board of a junior college district may exempt a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | district employee who enrolls in courses offered by the district |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | from the payment of all or part of the tuition or fees charged to a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | student at a junior college by the district. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
