1010 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1111 AN ACT
1212 relating to authorization for an exemption from tuition and fees
1313 charged by a junior college district for employees of the district.
1414 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1515 SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 130, Education Code, is
1616 amended by adding Section 130.0851 to read as follows:
1717 Sec. 130.0851. TUITION EXEMPTION FOR DISTRICT EMPLOYEES.
1818 The governing board of a junior college district may exempt a
1919 district employee who enrolls in courses offered by the district
2020 from the payment of all or part of the tuition or fees charged to a
2121 student at a junior college by the district.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2323 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2424 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2525 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2626 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
