5	5	relating to annual reports by the Texas Juvenile Probation
6	6	Commission on the operations and conditions of probation services
7	7	in this state.
8	8	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
9	9	SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 141.024, Human Resources
10	10	Code, is amended to read as follows:
11	11	(a) The commission shall report annually to the governor and
12	12	the legislature on the commission's operations and the condition of
13	13	probation services in the state during the previous year. The
14	14	report:
15	15	(1) may include recommendations; and
16	16	(2) must include:
17	17	(A) an evaluation of the effectiveness of the
18	18	community-based programs operated under Section 54.0401, Family
19	19	Code; and
20	20	(B) information comparing the cost of a child
21	21	participating in a program described by Paragraph (A) with the cost
22	22	of committing the child to the Texas Youth Commission.
23	23	SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
