8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Subdivision (1), Subsection (c), Section | |
10 | 10 | 156.2512, Tax Code, is amended to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | (1) "Eligible barrier island coastal municipality" | |
12 | 12 | means a municipality: | |
13 | 13 | (A) that borders on the Gulf of Mexico; | |
14 | 14 | (B) that is located wholly or partly on a barrier | |
15 | 15 | island; and | |
16 | 16 | (C) the boundaries of which are within 30 miles | |
17 | 17 | of the United Mexican States or include: | |
18 | 18 | (i) a portion of a national seashore; or | |
19 | 19 | (ii) a national estuarine research reserve. | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect on the first day of the | |
21 | 21 | first month beginning on or after the earliest date on which this | |
22 | 22 | Act may take effect if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the | |
23 | 23 | members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article | |
24 | 24 | III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote | |
25 | 25 | necessary for effect on that date, this Act takes effect September | |
26 | 26 | 1, 2009. |
