88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Subsection (e), Section 254.124, Election Code,
1010 is amended to read as follows:
1111 (e) In addition to other required reports, the campaign
1212 treasurer of a specific-purpose committee that supports or opposes
1313 a candidate in a [an election and an ensuing] runoff election shall
1414 file one report for the runoff election. The runoff election
1515 report must be received by the authority with whom the report is
1616 required to be filed not later than the eighth day before runoff
1717 election day. The report covers the period beginning the ninth day
1818 before the date of the main election and continuing through the 10th
1919 day before runoff election day.
2020 SECTION 2. Subsection (e), Section 254.154, Election Code,
2121 is amended to read as follows:
2222 (e) In addition to other required reports, the campaign
2323 treasurer of a general-purpose committee involved in a [an election
2424 and an ensuing] runoff election shall file one report for the runoff
2525 election. The runoff election report must be received by the
2626 authority with whom the report is required to be filed not earlier
2727 than the 10th day or later than the eighth day before runoff
2828 election day. The report covers the period beginning the ninth day
2929 before the date of the main election and continuing through the 10th
3030 day before runoff election day.
3131 SECTION 3. Subsection (e), Section 254.124, and Subsection
3232 (e), Section 254.154, Election Code, as amended by this Act, apply
3333 only to a runoff election that follows an election held on or after
3434 September 1, 2009.
3535 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
