66 AN ACT
77 relating to the adoption of rules by the supreme court relating to
88 the nonrenewal of the license of an attorney who defaults on a
99 student loan administered by the Texas Higher Education
1010 Coordinating Board.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 82.022(c), Government Code, is amended
1313 to read as follows:
1414 (c) The supreme court may adopt rules relating to the
1515 nonrenewal of the license of a lawyer who is in default on:
1616 (1) a loan guaranteed under Chapter 57, Education
1717 Code, by the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation; or
1818 (2) a loan administered under Chapter 52, Education
1919 Code, by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
2020 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2121 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2222 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2323 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2424 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
