11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 82.022(c), Government Code, is amended | |
13 | 13 | to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (c) The supreme court may adopt rules relating to the | |
15 | 15 | nonrenewal of the license of a lawyer who is in default on: | |
16 | 16 | (1) a loan guaranteed under Chapter 57, Education | |
17 | 17 | Code, by the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation; or | |
18 | 18 | (2) a loan administered under Chapter 52, Education | |
19 | 19 | Code, by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
21 | 21 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
22 | 22 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
23 | 23 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
24 | 24 | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
