| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 1, Chapter 994 (S.B. 1566), Acts of the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 80th Legislature, Regular Session, 2007, is amended by adding |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Subsection (i-1) and amending Subsections (k) and (n) to read as |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (i-1) The commissioner may accept on behalf of the council |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | gifts, grants, and donations to fulfill the council's purposes |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | under this section. |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (k) Not later than December 1 of each even-numbered year[, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 2008], the council shall report on its findings and recommendations |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | to the governor, the lieutenant governor, and the speaker of the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | house of representatives. The report shall be made public and is |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | subject to public review and comment before it may be adopted by the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | council. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (n) This section expires and the council is abolished |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | September 1, 2013 [2009]. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
