LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION April 13, 2009 TO: Honorable Judith Zaffirini, Chair, Senate Committee on Higher Education FROM: John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:SB2007 by Hegar (Relating to Prairie View A&M University's eligibility to participate in the research development fund.), As Introduced No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would make Texas A&M University at Prairie View eligible to participate in the Research Development Fund (RDF) formula allocations. While adding a new institution to the RDF formula allocation would not necessarily result in an additional cost to the state, each eligible institution's share of the RDF appropriation would change to the degree the inclusion of TAMU-PV affects each eligible institution's pro rata share of the total restricted research expenditures data used to apportion the RDF. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
