9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 21.054, Education Code, is amended by | |
11 | 11 | adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (d) Continuing education requirements for a superintendent | |
13 | 13 | or a principal of an elementary, middle, or junior high school must | |
14 | 14 | include at least two hours of classroom education training every | |
15 | 15 | five years regarding coordinated health programs required under | |
16 | 16 | Sections 38.013 and 38.014. The board, in conjunction with the | |
17 | 17 | Texas Department of Agriculture, the Department of State Health | |
18 | 18 | Services, and the agency, shall develop or approve a curriculum | |
19 | 19 | that may be used for purposes of this subsection. The curriculum | |
20 | 20 | must provide instruction regarding: | |
21 | 21 | (1) health education; | |
22 | 22 | (2) physical education and physical activity; | |
23 | 23 | (3) nutrition services; and | |
24 | 24 | (4) parental involvement. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
