C.S.S.B. 2304 amends current law relating to the amount of hazardous duty pay for certain employees of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 659.305(h), Government Code, to provide that the amount of hazardous duty pay for a particular month for a full-time state employee, rather than full-time correctional officer, employed by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice is $12 for each 12-month period of lifetime service credit accrued by the employee, rather than the lesser of $12 for each 12-month period of lifetime service credit accrued by the employee or $300. Makes nonsubstantive changes. SECTION 2. Provides that this Act does not make an appropriation. Provides that a provision in this Act that creates a new governmental program, creates a new entitlement, or imposes a new duty on a governmental entity is not mandatory during a fiscal period for which the legislature has not made a specific appropriation to implement the provision. SECTION 3. Effective date: September 1, 2009.
