| 7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Subdivision (1), Section 15.971, Water Code, is |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | (1) "Eligible political subdivision" means a city, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | county, district, or authority created under Section 52, Article |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | III, or Section 59, Article XVI, Texas Constitution, including a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | groundwater district with a groundwater management plan certified |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | by the board under Section 36.1072, any other political subdivision |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | of the state, any interstate compact commission to which the state |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | is a party, and any nonprofit water supply corporation created and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | operating under Chapter 67[: |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | [(A) a municipality; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | [(B) a county; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | [(C) a river authority or special law district |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | that is listed in Section 9.010(b); |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | [(D) a water improvement district; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | [(E) an irrigation district; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | [(F) a water control and improvement district; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | [(G) a groundwater district with a groundwater |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | management plan certified by the board under Section 36.1072]. |

| 28 | 28 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
