66 AN ACT
77 relating to the program to educate cattle producers about
88 trichonomoniasis.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 161, Agriculture Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 161.0413 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 161.0413. TRICHONOMONIASIS EDUCATION PROGRAM. The
1313 commission shall develop and implement a program to:
1414 (1) educate cattle producers on:
1515 (A) the prevalence of trichonomoniasis in cattle
1616 in this state;
1717 (B) the impact of trichonomoniasis on cattle
1818 production; and
1919 (C) the benefits of identifying virgin bulls
2020 infected with trichonomoniasis; and
2121 (2) encourage cattle producers to test virgin bulls
2222 for trichonomoniasis.
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2424 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2525 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2626 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2727 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
