| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 161, Agriculture Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 161.0413 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 161.0413. TRICHONOMONIASIS EDUCATION PROGRAM. The | |
| 13 | 13 | commission shall develop and implement a program to: | |
| 14 | 14 | (1) educate cattle producers on: | |
| 15 | 15 | (A) the prevalence of trichonomoniasis in cattle | |
| 16 | 16 | in this state; | |
| 17 | 17 | (B) the impact of trichonomoniasis on cattle | |
| 18 | 18 | production; and | |
| 19 | 19 | (C) the benefits of identifying virgin bulls | |
| 20 | 20 | infected with trichonomoniasis; and | |
| 21 | 21 | (2) encourage cattle producers to test virgin bulls | |
| 22 | 22 | for trichonomoniasis. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 24 | 24 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 25 | 25 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 26 | 26 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 27 | 27 | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
