| 7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 54.1172, Government |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Code, is amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | (a) The county judge may appoint one or more part-time or |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | full-time magistrates to hear a matter alleging a violation of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Section 25.093 or 25.094, Education Code. |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
