| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter G, Chapter 504, Transportation Code, | |
| 11 | 11 | is amended by adding Section 504.659 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 504.659. DISASTER RELIEF SUPPORT. (a) The department | |
| 13 | 13 | shall issue specialty license plates indicating support of disaster | |
| 14 | 14 | relief. The department shall design an appropriate plate. | |
| 15 | 15 | (b) After deduction of the department's administrative | |
| 16 | 16 | costs, the remainder of the fee for issuance of the license plates | |
| 17 | 17 | shall be deposited to the credit of the disaster contingency fund | |
| 18 | 18 | established under Section 418.073, Government Code. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. Section 418.073(a), Government Code, is amended | |
| 20 | 20 | to read as follows: | |
| 21 | 21 | (a) The disaster contingency fund consists of: | |
| 22 | 22 | (1) money appropriated to the fund; and | |
| 23 | 23 | (2) money deposited to the fund under Section 504.659, | |
| 24 | 24 | Transportation Code. | |
| 25 | 25 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
