| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 552.126, Government Code, is amended to | |
| 10 | 10 | read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | Sec. 552.126. EXCEPTION: NAME OF APPLICANT FOR | |
| 12 | 12 | SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT. (a) The name of an | |
| 13 | 13 | applicant for the position of superintendent of a public school | |
| 14 | 14 | district is excepted from the requirements of Section 552.021, | |
| 15 | 15 | except that the board of trustees must give public notice of the | |
| 16 | 16 | name or names of the finalists being considered for the position at | |
| 17 | 17 | least 21 days before the date of the meeting at which a final action | |
| 18 | 18 | or vote is to be taken on the employment of the person. | |
| 19 | 19 | (b) For purposes of this section, a person is a finalist for | |
| 20 | 20 | the position of superintendent of a public school district if the | |
| 21 | 21 | board of trustees interviewed the person during the final round of | |
| 22 | 22 | interviews for the position. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies with | |
| 24 | 24 | respect to notice of a meeting held on or after October 1, 2009. | |
| 25 | 25 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
