1010 relating to filing a wage claim.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Subsections (b) and (d), Section 61.051, Labor
1313 Code, are amended to read as follows:
1414 (b) A wage claim must be filed in a manner and [in writing]
1515 on a form prescribed by the commission and must be verified by the
1616 employee.
1717 (d) The employee may file the wage claim:
1818 (1) in person at an office of the commission; [or]
1919 (2) by mailing the claim to an address designated by
2020 the commission;
2121 (3) by faxing the claim to a fax number designated by
2222 the commission; or
2323 (4) by any other means adopted by the commission by
2424 rule.
2525 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
2626 to a wage claim that is filed with the Texas Workforce Commission on
2727 or after the effective date of this Act. A wage claim filed before
2828 that date is governed by the law in effect on the date that the claim
2929 was filed, and the former law is continued in effect for that
3030 purpose.
3131 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
