8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Subsection (a-1), Section 154.125, Family Code, | |
10 | 10 | is amended to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | (a-1) The dollar amount prescribed by Subsection (a) is | |
12 | 12 | adjusted every six years as necessary to reflect inflation. The | |
13 | 13 | Title IV-D agency shall compute the adjusted amount, to take effect | |
14 | 14 | beginning September 1 of the year of the adjustment, based on the | |
15 | 15 | percentage change in the consumer price index during the 72-month | |
16 | 16 | [preceding six-year] period preceding March 1 of the year of the | |
17 | 17 | adjustment [in the consumer price index], as rounded to the nearest | |
18 | 18 | $50 increment. The Title IV-D agency shall publish the adjusted | |
19 | 19 | amount in the Texas Register before September 1 of the year in which | |
20 | 20 | the adjustment takes effect. For purposes of this subsection, | |
21 | 21 | "consumer price index" has the meaning assigned by Section 341.201, | |
22 | 22 | Finance Code. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
