8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Subsection (b), Section 34.0021, Education Code, | |
10 | 10 | is amended to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | (b) A school district shall conduct the school bus emergency | |
12 | 12 | evacuation training at least once [twice] each school year. The | |
13 | 13 | training may be conducted through use of video. A video used for | |
14 | 14 | training under this subsection may be produced by students[, with | |
15 | 15 | one training session occurring in the fall and one training session | |
16 | 16 | occurring in the spring. A portion of the training session must | |
17 | 17 | occur on a school bus and the training session must last for at | |
18 | 18 | least one hour]. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2009-2010 | |
20 | 20 | school year. | |
21 | 21 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
22 | 22 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
23 | 23 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
24 | 24 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
25 | 25 | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
