55 AN ACT
66 relating to the availability of online testing for high school
77 equivalency examinations.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 7.111, Education Code, is amended by
1010 adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
1111 (c) If the national entity that develops and delivers high
1212 school equivalency examinations authorizes online testing, the
1313 board by rule shall provide for administration of the examinations
1414 online. The rules must provide a procedure for verifying the
1515 identity of the person taking the examination.
1616 SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2009-2010
1717 school year.
1818 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1919 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2020 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2121 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2222 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
