| 8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 53.063, Water Code, is | |
| 10 | 10 | amended to read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | (a) Except as provided by Subsection (b), to be qualified | |
| 12 | 12 | for election as a supervisor: | |
| 13 | 13 | (1) [,] a person must be: | |
| 14 | 14 | (A) [(1)] a resident of this state; | |
| 15 | 15 | (B) [(2)] the owner of taxable property in the | |
| 16 | 16 | district; and | |
| 17 | 17 | (C) [(3)] at least 18 years of age; or | |
| 18 | 18 | (2) a person must be a registered voter of the | |
| 19 | 19 | district. | |
| 20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
