77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 662, Government Code, is
99 amended by adding Section 662.153 to read as follows:
1010 Sec. 662.153. MONARCH BUTTERFLY WEEK. (a) The first seven
1111 days of October are Monarch Butterfly Week to encourage Texas
1212 residents and visitors to study, observe, and promote the life of
1313 the state insect, the monarch butterfly.
1414 (b) Through participation in the Texas Monarch Watch
1515 program sponsored by the Parks and Wildlife Department, Texas
1616 residents and visitors may help scientists answer research
1717 questions about monarch biology and migration.
1818 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1919 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2020 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2121 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2222 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
