6	6	relating to erecting an off-premise sign adjacent to and visible
7	7	from certain roads that follow the route of El Camino Real de Tierra
8	8	Adentro.
9	9	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
10	10	SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 391.252, Transportation
11	11	Code, is amended to read as follows:
12	12	(a) A person may not erect an off-premise sign that is
13	13	adjacent to and visible from:
14	14	(1) U.S. Highway 290 between the western city limits
15	15	of the city of Austin and the eastern city limits of the city of
16	16	Fredericksburg;
17	17	(2) State Highway 317 between the northern city limits
18	18	of the city of Belton to the southern city limits of the city of
19	19	Valley Mills;
20	20	(3) State Highway 16 between the northern city limits
21	21	of the city of Kerrville and Interstate Highway 20;
22	22	(4) U.S. Highway 77 between State Highway 186 and
23	23	State Highway 44;
24	24	(5) U.S. Highway 281 between:
25	25	(A) State Highway 186 and Interstate Highway 37,
26	26	exclusive of the segment of U.S. Highway 281 located in the city
27	27	limits of Three Rivers; and
28	28	(B) the southern boundary line of Comal County
29	29	and State Highway 306;
30	30	(6) State Highway 17 between State Highway 118 and
31	31	U.S. Highway 90;
32	32	(7) State Highway 67 between U.S. Highway 90 and
33	33	Farm-to-Market Road 170;
34	34	(8) Farm-to-Market Road 170 between State Highway 67
35	35	and State Highway 118;
36	36	(9) State Highway 118 between Farm-to-Market Road 170
37	37	and State Highway 17;
38	38	(10) State Highway 105 between the western city limits
39	39	of the city of Sour Lake to the eastern city limits of the city of
40	40	Cleveland;
41	41	(11) State Highway 73 between the eastern city limits
42	42	of the city of Winnie to the western city limits of the city of Port
43	43	Arthur;
44	44	(12) State Highway 21 between the southern city limits
45	45	of the city of College Station and U.S. Highway 290;
46	46	(13) a highway located in:
47	47	(A) the Sabine National Forest;
48	48	(B) the Davy Crockett National Forest; or
49	49	(C) the Sam Houston National Forest;
50	50	(14) Segments 1 through 4 of State Highway 130;
51	51	(15) a highway in Bandera County that is part of the
52	52	state highway system;
53	53	(16) Farm-to-Market Road 3238 beginning at State
54	54	Highway 71 and any extension of that road through Hays and Blanco
55	55	Counties;
56	56	(17) Farm-to-Market Road 2978 between Farm-to-Market
57	57	Road 1488 and the boundary line between Harris and Montgomery
58	58	Counties;
59	59	(18) U.S. Highway 90 between the western city limits
60	60	of the city of San Antonio and the eastern city limits of the city of
61	61	Hondo; [or]
62	62	(19) the following highways in Austin County:
63	63	(A) State Highway 159;
64	64	(B) Farm-to-Market Road 331;
65	65	(C) Farm-to-Market Road 529;
66	66	(D) Farm-to-Market Road 1094; and
67	67	(E) Farm-to-Market Road 2502; or
68	68	(20) the following highway segments that are a part of
69	69	the route of El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro:
70	70	(A) Farm-to-Market Road 258 between
71	71	Farm-to-Market Road 1110 and Loop 375; and
72	72	(B) State Highway 20 between State Highway 260
73	73	and the border of this state and the state of New Mexico.
74	74	SECTION 2. The change in law made by Subsection (a), Section
75	75	391.252, Transportation Code, as amended by this Act, applies only
76	76	to an off-premise sign erected on or after the effective date of
77	77	this Act. An off-premise sign erected before the effective date of
78	78	this Act is covered by the law in effect when the sign was erected,
79	79	and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
80	80	SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
