| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Betty Gayle Davis Corley, an outstanding Texas citizen |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | and a leader in her community; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Born in Knox City, Texas, Betty Gayle Davis was |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | raised in Throckmorton and attended Throckmorton High School; |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | she was a proud Greyhound and a member of the choir and band; she |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | earned medals in solo and ensemble contests on the alto saxophone |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | and was valedictorian of the class of 1958; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, She graduated from Texas Tech University, where |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | she represented Zeta Tau Alpha in the Miss Lubbock Contest; she |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | married Richard Corley on August 18, 1962, and began a teaching |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | career with the Dallas Independent School District; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, After her daughter was born in 1967, Mrs. Corley |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | retired from teaching to be a stay-at-home parent, and in 1972, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | she and her family moved to Denton, where she has been an active |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | member of First Baptist Church for more than 35 years and has been |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | dedicated to her work as a homemaker; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Her work in the Denton community has included |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | participation in such charitable organizations as the Denton |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Benefit League and the Denton Aerial Club; she is an accomplished |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | pianist, and over the years, her hobbies have included |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | crocheting, china painting, bowling, tennis, and bridge; now, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend Betty Gayle Davis Corley on her many |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | accomplishments and her exemplary citizenship; and, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
