SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1004 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Palmira Rosales Sheffield, who retired November 28, 2008, after 22 years of outstanding service with AT&T Advertising Solutions; and WHEREAS, Pam Sheffield earned a degree in fashion buying and merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Technology and a degree in business from the University of the Incarnate Word; before joining AT&T Advertising Solutions, she worked at several prestigious New York City stores, including Tiffany and Company, Bergdorf Goodman, and B. Altman's; and WHEREAS, She became a member of Mexican American Business and Professional Women in 1982, and her service in that organization has been an inspiration to others; she was a speaker as a representative of the organization at a national YWCA conference, where she spoke of pay equity for women and minorities and the symbolism of her famous red purse; and WHEREAS, She joined AT&T Advertising Solutions in 1986 and distinguished herself in her career and in the world of business; she became a member of HACEMOS, an organization within the company that provides support to those interested in helping themselves and the community, and she served as chair of its Leadership Program for a number of years; and WHEREAS, Pam is a past president of the Pan American League and served on the board of directors of the San Fernando Historical Centre; she is an exemplary woman who willingly gives of her time and energy to others and to her community, and her presence at AT&T Advertising Solutions is greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend Palmira Rosales Sheffield on her successful career with AT&T Advertising Solutions and her community leadership and extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in her honor.
