| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Palmira Rosales Sheffield, who retired November 28, 2008, |

| 4 | 4 | | after 22 years of outstanding service with AT&T Advertising |

| 5 | 5 | | Solutions; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Pam Sheffield earned a degree in fashion buying |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | and merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Technology and a |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | degree in business from the University of the Incarnate Word; |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | before joining AT&T Advertising Solutions, she worked at several |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | prestigious New York City stores, including Tiffany and Company, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Bergdorf Goodman, and B. Altman's; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, She became a member of Mexican American Business |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and Professional Women in 1982, and her service in that |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | organization has been an inspiration to others; she was a speaker |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | as a representative of the organization at a national YWCA |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | conference, where she spoke of pay equity for women and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | minorities and the symbolism of her famous red purse; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, She joined AT&T Advertising Solutions in 1986 and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | distinguished herself in her career and in the world of business; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | she became a member of HACEMOS, an organization within the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | company that provides support to those interested in helping |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | themselves and the community, and she served as chair of its |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Leadership Program for a number of years; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Pam is a past president of the Pan American League |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and served on the board of directors of the San Fernando |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Historical Centre; she is an exemplary woman who willingly gives |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | of her time and energy to others and to her community, and her |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | presence at AT&T Advertising Solutions is greatly missed; now, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby commend Palmira Rosales Sheffield on her |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | successful career with AT&T Advertising Solutions and her |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | community leadership and extend to her best wishes for the |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | future; and, be it further |

| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in her |
