| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Dr. David Splitek, who is retiring from the position of |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | superintendent of the Lackland Independent School District after |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | a career in education spanning nearly 40 years; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of the University of Wisconsin at |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Madison, Dr. Splitek earned his master's and doctoral degrees at |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | The University of Texas at Austin; he became superintendent of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the Lackland Independent School District in 2000 after a career |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | that has seen him serve at nearly every level of the educational |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | system; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Splitek began his career in education as a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | junior high school mathematics teacher in Albuquerque and El |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Paso; he went on to teach at Texas A&M University, Trinity |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | University, and The University of Texas at San Antonio and to |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | serve as an administrator in the San Antonio Independent School |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | District; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Active in civic and professional affairs, Dr. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Splitek has served with the American Association of School |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Administrators, the Military Child Education Coalition, the San |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Antonio Founder Lions Club, and many other outstanding |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | organizations; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A talented and resourceful educator and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | administrator, Dr. Splitek has handled his many responsibilities |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | with exceptional efficiency and dedication; he is respected and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | admired by his colleagues, and his presence at the Lackland |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Independent School District will be greatly missed; now, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend Dr. David Splitek on his commitment |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | to education and extend to him best wishes for the retirement |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | years ahead; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
