55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
66 commemorates the life of San Antonio civic leader,
77 philanthropist, musician, and businesswoman Rosalie Richter
88 Bolner, who died November 18, 2008, at the age of 80; and
99 WHEREAS, Rosalie Richter was born in San Antonio on June 6,
1010 1929, to Otto and Aleen Richter; she met Clifton J. Bolner when
1111 they were both elementary school students, and they were married
1212 at Saint Mary's Church on January 26, 1949; and
1313 WHEREAS, Family and food were central to Rosalie's life,
1414 and she often recalled with fondness the smell of the freshly
1515 baked Richter's Butter Krust bread brought home daily from the
1616 family bakery; she and her husband founded Bolner's Fiesta
1717 Spices, and she worked avidly developing unique seasoning
1818 recipes for the business; and
1919 WHEREAS, She was active in her children's school activities
2020 when they were young and continued her service to local Catholic
2121 schools volunteering, serving on boards and committees, and
2222 organizing the food at church and school festivals and charity
2323 fund-raisers; and
2424 WHEREAS, Through the years, she was involved in numerous
2525 civic activities, and many organizations in San Antonio have
2626 benefited from her service and generosity; she served as a
2727 trustee on the board of Santa Rosa Children's Hospital and as
2828 president of Saint Monica's Guild; and
2929 WHEREAS, She began studying keyboards as a child,
3030 continued her music studies in college and graduated magna cum
3131 laude from Our Lady of the Lake University; an accomplished
3232 musician for 65 years, she played the organ at many masses and
3333 weddings, performed piano concertos, and sang with the
3434 Mastersingers; and
3535 WHEREAS, She continued her affiliation with Our Lady of the
3636 Lake University as a major contributor and a 30-year member of
3737 its board of trustees; the Oblate Priests of Mary Immaculate were
3838 an integral part of her life, and she was an honorary lifetime
3939 member of the Oblate Associates; she was a member of the Saint
4040 Patrick's Holy Family Guild for 50 years; and
4141 WHEREAS, A woman of uncommon grace and beauty, Rosalie
4242 Bolner enriched the lives of all who knew her with her warmth, her
4343 compassion for others, and her enthusiasm for life; now,
4444 therefore, be it
4545 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
4646 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Rosalie Richter
4747 Bolner and extend sincere condolences to her bereaved family:
4848 her husband, Clifton J. Bolner; her children, Tim and Judy
4949 Bolner, Mike and Mary Pat Bolner, Debbie Bolner Prost, Cindy and
5050 David Meeh, Beverly Bolner, Chris and Magdalena Bolner, and Mary
5151 Bolner; her brothers and sisters, Barbara and Anton Hajek, Joan
5252 and Pat Kennedy, Patty and Otto Richter, Jr., and Tommy and Joy
5353 Richter; and her 19 grandchildren; and, be it further
5454 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
5555 her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
5656 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
5757 memory of Rosalie Richter Bolner.
