4	4	Rosalie Richter Bolner
5	5	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
6	6	commemorates the life of San Antonio civic leader,
7	7	philanthropist, musician, and businesswoman Rosalie Richter
8	8	Bolner, who died November 18, 2008, at the age of 80; and
9	9	WHEREAS, Rosalie Richter was born in San Antonio on June 6,
10	10	1929, to Otto and Aleen Richter; she met Clifton J. Bolner when
11	11	they were both elementary school students, and they were married
12	12	at Saint Mary's Church on January 26, 1949; and
13	13	WHEREAS, Family and food were central to Rosalie's life,
14	14	and she often recalled with fondness the smell of the freshly
15	15	baked Richter's Butter Krust bread brought home daily from the
16	16	family bakery; she and her husband founded Bolner's Fiesta
17	17	Spices, and she worked avidly developing unique seasoning
18	18	recipes for the business; and
19	19	WHEREAS, She was active in her children's school activities
20	20	when they were young and continued her service to local Catholic
21	21	schools volunteering, serving on boards and committees, and
22	22	organizing the food at church and school festivals and charity
23	23	fund-raisers; and
24	24	WHEREAS, Through the years, she was involved in numerous
25	25	civic activities, and many organizations in San Antonio have
26	26	benefited from her service and generosity; she served as a
27	27	trustee on the board of Santa Rosa Children's Hospital and as
28	28	president of Saint Monica's Guild; and
29	29	WHEREAS, She began studying keyboards as a child,
30	30	continued her music studies in college and graduated magna cum
31	31	laude from Our Lady of the Lake University; an accomplished
32	32	musician for 65 years, she played the organ at many masses and
33	33	weddings, performed piano concertos, and sang with the
34	34	Mastersingers; and
35	35	WHEREAS, She continued her affiliation with Our Lady of the
36	36	Lake University as a major contributor and a 30-year member of
37	37	its board of trustees; the Oblate Priests of Mary Immaculate were
38	38	an integral part of her life, and she was an honorary lifetime
39	39	member of the Oblate Associates; she was a member of the Saint
40	40	Patrick's Holy Family Guild for 50 years; and
41	41	WHEREAS, A woman of uncommon grace and beauty, Rosalie
42	42	Bolner enriched the lives of all who knew her with her warmth, her
43	43	compassion for others, and her enthusiasm for life; now,
44	44	therefore, be it
45	45	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
46	46	Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Rosalie Richter
47	47	Bolner and extend sincere condolences to her bereaved family:
48	48	her husband, Clifton J. Bolner; her children, Tim and Judy
49	49	Bolner, Mike and Mary Pat Bolner, Debbie Bolner Prost, Cindy and
50	50	David Meeh, Beverly Bolner, Chris and Magdalena Bolner, and Mary
51	51	Bolner; her brothers and sisters, Barbara and Anton Hajek, Joan
52	52	and Pat Kennedy, Patty and Otto Richter, Jr., and Tommy and Joy
53	53	Richter; and her 19 grandchildren; and, be it further
54	54	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
55	55	her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
56	56	Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
57	57	memory of Rosalie Richter Bolner.
